LITIGATION LAW CLERK
One year contract position
Contract to begin immediately.
Carters Professional Corporation is a dynamic law firm with fourteen lawyers dedicated to providing a high standard of legal services and proactive advice. With a growing practice in civil litigation, the litigation team is seeking a team member to work and support from our Orangeville office. The candidate should have a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma, with four years of experience as a law clerk/legal assistant. The nature of the work will include both civil litigation work and general administration.
- Candidate must have a legal assistant or law clerk diploma
- A minimum of four years’ experience in civil litigation, administration for tribunals and related areas (though not family litigation), as well as a comprehensive working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure is required.
- Experience in complex commercial litigation and trial advocacy is an important asset.
- Duties will involve assisting in all stages of litigation, including motion scheduling, documentary discovery.
- Legal administrative duties are included as part of the job description.
- The ability to work together in a team environment is critical
- Strong word processing skills, familiarity with MS Office and PC Law is required
- Knowledge of online documentation management system, ACL and Prima Facta is an asset.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are necessary.
