Senior Law Clerk
Sterling Law Barristers and Solicitors is a progressive, collegial, dynamic family law firm seeking a talented senior law clerk to join our team.
Sterling Law Barristers and Solicitors is seeking a law clerk who is highly skilled at drafting court documents, and also has extensive administrative experience.
A successful candidate will be reliable, organized, and detail oriented, with the ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work independently. They will also possess strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, with multiple lawyers and fellow clerks.

Responsibilities include:
· - Meeting with Clients;
· - Developing and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and other professionals;
· - Assisting with client intakes, organizing calendar entries; arranging client meeting, and court dates;
· - Drafting of Court Documents;
· - Reviewing work before passing it along to lawyers;
· - Prepare or arrange litigation material, assembling into pleadings and/ or briefs, edit and finalization;
· - Filing court documents online through the appropriate portals;
· - Coordinating in person filings with process server;
· - Coordinating work-flow with clerks and lawyers;
· - Scheduling court attendances, Conferences and Motions;
· - Manage calls and emails; route and/or respond to inquiries as appropriate;
· - Liaise with lawyers and clerks to prepare and forward client accounts for both private and LAO clients;
· - Assist with collection on overdue accounts;
· Request cheques, bank transfers and paying in money received;
· - Coordinate and process accounts payable;
· - Perform administrative duties, such as purchasing and/or updating lawyers’ memberships;
· - Assist other departments and/or team members as needed.
Requirements: 8+ years of legal support experience;
· - Extensive background in Family Law;
· - Strong drafting skills of Family Law documents;
· - In depth knowledge of the Family Law Rules, and Family Law court processes;
· - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills;
· - Solid typing skills and advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Outlook, Excel), Divorcemate, as well as PCLaw;
· - Strong research abilities and problem-solving abilities;
· - Ability to remain calm under pressure;
· - Positive, collegial, proactive, team player attitude with a strong commitment to client service.
