LITIGATION ASSISTANT/LAW CLERK - INSURANCE DEFENCE

Black Sutherland LLP is seeking a Litigation Assistant/Law Clerk to support a Partner in our insurance defence practice. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in defence litigation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Required to schedule, deal with correspondence and client reporting, maintain a tickler system, prepare accounts, communicate with clients and generally perform all tasks commensurate with the management of a demanding practice
  • Ability to review and organize files and document collection
  • Ability to prepare affidavits of documents, medical and special damages briefs, arrange IME’s, serve and file court materials for applications, motion records and trials
  • Ability to work effectively on your own with minimal instruction and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Automated Civil Litigation and PCLaw would be an asset
