Law Clerk

Responsibilities:

  • Attending to third party demands relating to bankruptcies, garnishments, Government agencies requests for information, estate requests, employment and agent files and any other requests
  • Prepare regulatory filings related to license renewals, business name renewals, annual returns and related for all PFS Canada entities and keep track of deadlines to ensure compliance
  • Monitoring industry initiatives and legislative matters impacting business and operations and prepare the report to management
  • Coordinate and prepare filings for the stewardship (blue box) reports.
  • Act as Business Recovery Coordinator and maintain/update the department business continuity plan
  • Assist in drafting and keeping track of department budgets as well as preparing the variance/accrual reports
  • Coordinate and maintain department records retention
  • Coordinate and organize the annual Canada Operations & Compliance Training for the field force
  • Responding to requests from other business units
  • Provide administrative assistance to EVP, General Counsel and the Legal Department as required
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through related work experience
  • Prefer Law Clerk Certification and/or proficient knowledge of corporate law
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (word, excel, powerpoint)
