Intermediate Law Clerk/Legal Assistant

A Downtown Toronto litigation firm is seeking to hire an intermediate law clerk / legal assistant with 2-5 years experience, preferably in general commercial litigation.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Maintaining lawyer’s schedule and ensuring accurate diarizing
  • Drafting routine motions, judgments, orders, affidavits of documents, etc.
  • Drafting routine correspondence and other legal documents
  • Maintaining and organizing files from start to finish
  • Maintaining enforcement of judgment files
  • Maintaining tickler system
  • Filing, distributing incoming mail and other administrative duties as may be necessary
  • Other duties as required

The successful candidate should have:

  • Minimum 2 years of general commercial law experience
  • Proficiency with PC law and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Small Claims Court
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • ILCO certification would be considered an asset
  • Experience with billing would be considered an asset
